Privacy notice

Which data our website and forum process, why, and what you can do about it.

This notice covers our website (bbport.de) and our forum (forum.bbport.de). Our Discord server is a separate service; Discord’s own privacy policy applies there.

Who is responsible

The Bloodborne PC Port Community, a volunteer project. Contact for all privacy questions: bbportpc@gmail.com.

Website

Hosting. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you visit it, GitHub processes technical data such as your IP address, the page you request, the time and your browser’s user agent, to deliver the site and protect it against attacks. We have a legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). GitHub processes this data in the USA; see the GitHub privacy statement for the safeguards it uses.

No cookies, no tracking. The website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and uses no analytics or advertising. Fonts and images are served from the website itself, not from third parties.

“Will it run on my PC?” The check in the install guide runs entirely in your browser; your choices are not stored or sent to us. Only if you click Detect does your browser tell the page the name of your graphics card, to pick it in the list. Your choices appear in the page address so you can share the result; like any address, it reaches GitHub only when you open or share that link.

Links. Links to Discord, GitHub, The Hunter’s Dream and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Nothing from them is loaded before you click.

Forum

Server and connection. The forum runs on our own server in Germany. Connections reach it through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA), which protects it against attacks and processes connection data such as your IP address for that purpose (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See the Cloudflare privacy policy for its safeguards. Our server writes technical log files (IP address, time, requested page, browser); they are rotated automatically and overwritten after a short time.

Logging in with Discord. Forum accounts are created with “Log in with Discord”. Discord then sends us your Discord user ID, username, avatar and e-mail address. We use them to create and run your account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Your e-mail address is not shown to other members.

What you post. Discussions, posts, likes and your profile are visible to everyone who visits the forum, including search engines. Files you upload (images, logs, zip/7z archives) can only be opened by logged-in members. Report Tool archives and logs can contain information about your PC, so please check them before uploading and don’t post personal data you don’t want to share. When you post, the forum stores the IP address you used, so moderators can act against spam and abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Discord announcements. New public discussions are announced in a channel of our Discord server with their title, the author’s name, tags, the beginning of the first post and a link. This tells the community about new topics (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); Discord’s privacy policy applies there.

Cookies. The forum sets only cookies it needs to work: a session cookie that keeps you logged in while you browse, and, if you choose “Remember me”, a cookie that keeps you logged in longer. It also remembers a few choices you make, such as hiding the welcome banner, in your browser. None of this is used for tracking.

Live statistics. The forum shows numbers from The Hunter’s Dream (the online co-op server). Our server fetches these totals directly from thehuntersdream.com; no data about you is sent there.

Backups. We back up the forum database and uploaded files every night and keep the backups for 14 days, so the forum can be restored after a failure.

How long we keep data. Your account and posts stay until you delete them or ask us to. In your forum settings you can export your data and request the deletion of your account; you can also write to us.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to receive your data in a portable format (Art. 15–21 GDPR). To use these rights, write to bbportpc@gmail.com. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.

E-mail

If you write to us, we use your message and address only to answer you. Our mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail), which processes the messages on our behalf.
